Motor Trend Tests the Ford Focus EV

The Ford Focus EV was arguably the most anticipated vehicles at the New York and Detroit Auto Shows this year.  Soon, it will adorn the sales floor at Elder Ford of Tampa of 9560 N Florida Ave Tampa, FL.  And, we're glad to announce that Motor Trend recently took the Focus EV for a test drive and were impressed by how eco-friendly and reliable it was

Ford's lithium-ion battery pack built into Focus EV holds 23 kW-hrs while traveling 76 miles per charge. EPA estimates for Focus EV say the car has a gas-equivalent mpg (mpge) rating of 110 city and 99 highway, with 105 combined.

Focus EV "is powered by a 141-hp permanent magnet motor," which is "capable of propelling the car to at least 80 mph" after a full recharge of 3 to 4 hours, when plugged in to 240-volt, 40-amp outlets.1

A 6.6-kW-hr on-board charger helps out the port charger placed in the left front fender. Best Buy offers a Leviton Level 2 home charger as well, hooked up by The Geek Squad for $1495. There are now 5,507 charging stations across the United States, so never be afraid to take Focus EV on long trips.

Official pricing for Focus EV comes in at $39,995 before $7500 federal tax credit. Subtract $2500 more if you live in California. It may be one of the most reasonably priced EV's out there.
